The Raeburn Shield and the Utrecht Shield are rugby’s lineal world titles. The men’s line goes back to 1871 and the women’s to 1982. Both titles change hands only when the holder is beaten, and both are being built by fans.
We have no sponsors and no governing body behind us, so money is always tight. Special edition merchandise is one of the ways we keep this going, and this coin is the first.
We have been on this mission for years. 2026 is when it has really taken off. The Raeburn Shield was made in oak and debuted at the Six Nations, the Shields are now getting into grounds, and the coverage keeps growing. The 2026 Founders Edition celebrates that. There will only ever be one, and owning it means you backed the Shields in the year they broke through.
Where the money goes
Both Shields exist today in oak. The next step is the metalwork on the front: the silver and engraving that will make them look like world titles should. Doing that properly will cost many thousands of pounds. All profit from this coin goes into separate Raeburn and Utrecht Shield accounts. That money is used only to finish the Shields and to promote them.
The coin
The Raeburn Shield is on one side and the Utrecht Shield is on the other. It is a 2-inch dual-metal coin and comes in a presentation box.
Ordering and delivery
Orders close on 15 November 2026. We will then place one production order so the coins can reach you in their boxes before Christmas. We can’t guarantee Christmas delivery, because things can go wrong in manufacturing. We have set the closing date early to give us the best chance of getting it to you in time.
It would make a great Christmas present for the rugby lover in your family, or for yourself.
